Molecular Structure of Inner-Sphere and Aqueous Multinuclear Pb(ii) and Cu(ii) Complexes on Clay Minerals Grant uri icon

Overview

abstract

  • This project involves basic research directed toward determining the molecular structure of the metals lead and copper on clay mineral surfaces. Clay minerals are important constituents of soils since they control the availability of nutrient and contaminant cations for uptake by microorganisms, plants, and animals. Thus, to effectively manage nutrients and contaminants in soils it is critical that the reaction mechanisms occurring between metals and clay minerals are understood.
