Biological Control of Hoary Cress: Effects of Surrogate Insect Herbivory and Interspecific Plant Composition Grant uri icon

  • Classical biological weed control programs often lack pre-release studies necessary to adequately evaluate the probable impact of the introduction of natural enemies. Our objectives are to evaluate the response of heart-podded hoary cress (Cardaria draba), a weed of riparian areas and rangelands in the Western United States, to damage by surrogate insect herbivores in the presence and absence of grass competition.
