Developing more Effective Weed Management Systems for Sugarbeet
Weeds are considered the number one pest problem for sugar beet growers. The use of herbicides for weed control must be used in combination with other weed management strategies to be most effective. Timing of herbicide application is also important for most effective weed control. This project examines the influence of sugar beet populations on the competitiveness of weeds and attempts to better understand germination and emergence biology of several important weeds in sugar beets.
