Biochemistry of Sulfur Cycling in the Soil Environment
Grant
Overview
abstract
Sulfur (S) is an essential element for life because of its incorporation into amino acids, proteins, and other biomolecules. Although the soil environment is a primary component in the S cycle, we know very little about S pools and transformations in soil. This project will develop improved methods for monitoring S cycling in soil in an attempt to better understand the role of S in plant nutrition and environmental quality.
