Biochemistry of Sulfur Cycling in the Soil Environment Grant uri icon

Overview

abstract

  • Sulfur (S) is an essential element for life because of its incorporation into amino acids, proteins, and other biomolecules. Although the soil environment is a primary component in the S cycle, we know very little about S pools and transformations in soil. This project will develop improved methods for monitoring S cycling in soil in an attempt to better understand the role of S in plant nutrition and environmental quality.
