Successful seed tuber performance will differ with cultivar and physiological age. Desired seed performance (emergence, stem and tuber numbers per plant, and yield) is necessary for crop efficiency. The ability to quantify seed age or related physiological properties after harvest would allow for the manipulation of seed storage temperature based upon the estimated physiological state of the seed tuber, cultivar, and intended use of the seed in a production system.
