Assessment and Development of Methodologies to Rapidly Assess BMPS to Reduce Sediment and Nutrient Runoff from Agriculture in Idaho Grant uri icon

Overview

abstract

  • The state of Idaho is under court order to clean up 963 stream segments that do not meet designated beneficial uses. BMPs are the tool that are used to reduce both sediment and nutrient loading to these water bodies; however, techniques to rapidly assess the benefit of each BMP in the field environment are lacking and/or controversial. The purpose of this project is to document and develop BMP assessment techniques that can be used in the field to rapidly quantify BMP effectiveness.
