Gastrointestinal Diseases of Newborn Calves: Search for Additional Causal Phenomena
A. Newborn calves become ill and die in the absence of known pathogens. B. High-quality dignostic specimens from dead calves often are not available to diagnosticians. A. This project is designed to search for additional pathogenic organisms or non-infectious mechanisms of serious or fatal calf diarrhea. B. The high quality of the diagnostic specimens is guaranteed by the experimental design and through use of collaborating specialists, new tools for identifying disease-causing agents will be used.
