Incorporating Estradiol Cypionate Into the Timed Artificial Insemination Breeding Protocol to Improve Pregnancy Rates in Cattle Grant uri icon

  • The changes in hormone concentrations and magnitude of negative energy balance associated with higher milk yeild have contributed to a lower reproductive efficiency through negative effects on expression of estrus and efficiency in estrus detection, 46% in 1989 vs. 40% in 1998. The focus of this proposal is to develop a systematic breeding protocol for dairy cattle to increase fertility rates and improve reproductive and economic advantages of artificial insemination to dairy farms.
