Enhancing the Efficiency of a Artificial Insemination in Dairy Cattle Through a Modified Systematic Breeding Protocol Grant uri icon

Overview

abstract

  • The U.S. dairy industry loses greater than $300 million annually as a result of reproductive inefficiency, primarily due to the failure to detect estrus, the misdiagnosis of estrus, and inappropriate timing of AI. This project directly addresses the limitations of GnRH-PGF2alpha-based sytematic breeding protocols and may provide a new, more efficient, less costly protocol in which the efficiency of AI in lactating dairy cattle is increased.
