Factors that Affect Availability of Metabolizable Energy in Corn and Barley Based Diets for Beef Cattle
Grant
Overview
abstract
Grains provide the predominance of energy in beef finishing diets. Beef finishing operations would benefit from improvements in efficiency of dietary energy utilization. This project will attempt to identify factors that contribute to variations in the energy content among sources of feed barley. This project will also identify the effects of corn endosperm type in high moisture corn fed to finishing beef cattle.
