USDA-CSREES Fort Hall Agricultural Extension Educator
Due to high poverty levels, lack of higher education and inadequate resources, the Fort Hall Reservation is in need of additional educational programming related to beef cattle production, natural resource management, farm business management, horticulture and 4-H/youth development to better utilize available Tribal and governmental program resources and increase the use of current, innovative practices. In the past, Tribal members have had inadequate access to education and government programs. The project intends to address these needs. The extension program is rapidly meeting these needs through development and implementation of educational, agricultural and natural resource based programs as well as collaboration with the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) and the Farm Service Agency (FSA) to bring more resources to the Tribe and
its membership. Without extension programming, Tribal members are left with few resources for continued agricultural and youth education, assistance with innovative agricultural technologies and access to additional governmental and educational programs.
