Curriculum Development: Biorefinery Process Analysis and Design
Grant
Overview
abstract
The increasing interest in biotechnology industries has created a high demand for quality work force which possesses the knowledge and training in biorefinary. Currently, no curriculum that specifically and systematically addresses the engineering fundamentals of biorefinery for chemical commodities and value-added products from plant/crop-based resources is available to students of higher education institutions within the Northwest. The goal of this proposal is to develop curriculum materials and deliver a new course on biorefinery processes to graduates and undergraduate seniors. The proposal addresses the emerging field of biorefinery with focus on applications of new technologies to underutilized agricultural waste and/or by-products.
