Carbohydrate Analysis for Bioproducts Research
Carbohydrates are the major constituent of wood, biomass and foods and its composition greatly influences end product performance. By having a tool to determine carbohydrate composition from feedstocks to products will provide insight on what occurs to various carbohydrates within a particular substrate (e.g food) during processing. The carbohydrate system selected is based on high performance anion exchange chromatography and is the preferred platform for efficient and quantitative carbohydrate analysis. This new capability will support in the development of new wood and food products/processes as well as understanding the effect forage feedstock on livestock physiology.
