  • intended to be used with standard detector configurations. Researchers will develop, performance measurement methodologies for local actuated signalized intersection operations using information derived from detector status and controller response. Supporting data extraction/processing techniques will be developed to support calculation of performance measures, traffic operations diagnostics, and controller parameter adjustments. The performance measurement methodologies will facilitate evaluating, diagnosing, and improving various aspects of intersection operations. Simulation software and field video data will be used to test and refine these performance measurement methodologies. The technical products of this project will be as follows: • Method for automatically measuring phase failure • Method for automatically measuring delay • Establish controller vs performance measure relationships for up to four primary controller parameters • Methods for obtaining and using information for traffic operations diagnostics • Method for establishing plausible expectations for operations improvements
