Gautam Kumar Assistant Professor


Gautam Kumar joins the Chemical and Materials Engineering Department as an assistant professor. He obtained chemical engineering degrees from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (bachelor's) and Lehigh University (master's and doctorate). Prior to joining the University of Idaho, he was a postdoctoral research associate in the Electrical Engineering Department at Washington University in St. Louis where he worked towards understanding brain dynamics using control-theoretic approaches. His research spans the areas of optimal control, stochastic systems, computational neuroscience and computational psychiatry with an emphasis on neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders such as epilepsy and major depressive disorders. In his leisure time, Kumar likes to play piano, bike, kayak and read books.
