James M May Assistant Clinical Professor, DAT Clinical Education Coordinator, Athletic Training

As a native Southern Californian, Dr. May arrives at the University of Idaho with a clinical focused professional background. Experiences captured from high school and collegiate clinical settings combined with regional and national professional involvement have laid a foundation for athletic training clinical investigation and education. While working as the Director of Athletic Training Services for a total 14 years at two private NCAA division III institutions, a passion for working with student-athlete patients and athletic training students has always been present. Having the opportunity to treat patients while working with athletic training students has always been enjoyable, challenging, and rewarding. Scholarship interests include action research in athletic training within the area a clinical interventions. Working with both the professional level masters (MSAT) and post-professional doctor of athletic training (DAT) programs, Dr. May is excited to join the Athletic Training Program family at the University of Idaho. As an active family, Dr. May, his wife Shannon and their two boys enjoy spending time together and pursing Idaho’s many outdoor activities.
