abstract
Mechanisms of plant virus-host interactions determine the pathogenicity of a virus in a particular host, and, thus, need to be elucidated to develop adequate measures to control and manage plant virus diseases. This project will address the identification and characterization of the genome region of potato virus Y responsible for the induction of potato tuber necrotic ringspot disease; and identification of the gene(s) of potato leafroll virus (PLRV) involved in production of aphid-attracting volatiles in virus-infected plants.
