This project combines FY09 projects KLK320 and KLK321.
The design of very efficient transportation structures requires an integrated approach. This project combines genetic algorithm based techniques for composite materials design and an in depth study of structural design of structures of least weight. The context for developing these design algorithms is the design, fabrication, and testing of a hybrid human-electric bicycle. This bicycle design is aimed at the intermediate commuter, i.e., too far to walk, too congested to drive.
